    Hiking with a View

If you’re into hiking (or even just casual walks with incredible views), there are several trails that offer breathtaking perspectives of the Three Sisters – perfect for snapping those Instagram-worthy shots and pretending you’ve lived here forever

Some of the best hikes to see the Three Sisters include:

    • Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk – Easy and scenic, perfect for a relaxed stroll with a great view of the sisters from the town.
    • Three Sisters Viewpoint Trail – Short and sweet, great for photos.
    • Highline Trail – A longer and more immersive hike through Canmore’s backcountry, offering fantastic vantage points.
    • Ha Ling Peak – Not directly on the Sisters, but gives you a great look at them from the other side.
    • East End of Rundle (EEOR) – A local favorite for panoramic views, including a dramatic perspective of the Three Sisters.

We recommend bringing a camera – or at least clearing space on your phone!

    Meet the Sisters

Each of the three peaks has its own name, story, and personality. Here’s a quick intro to these legendary ladies:

    Big Sister (Faith)

    • Height: 2,936 meters (9,633 ft)
    • Fun fact: The tallest of the three, and the most challenging to climb. Big Sister represents Faith – fitting, considering the courage it takes to reach her summit!

    Middle Sister (Charity)

    • Height: 2,769 meters (9,085 ft)
    • Fun fact: A quieter, less visited peak, often admired from afar. She stands for Charity, symbolizing giving and calm presence.

    Little Sister (Hope)

    • Height: 2,694 meters (8,839 ft)
    • Fun fact: Though the smallest, she’s the most photogenic from town! Representing Hope, she reminds us that beauty comes in all sizes.

These names were given by Albert Rogers, nephew of Major A.B. Rogers, who explored the area in the 1880s. Before that, the Stoney Nakoda people called the peaks “the three sisters who watch over the valley.”

Final Tip: Shoot Like a Local

The best times for photos? Early morning or golden hour in the evening – the light hits the mountains perfectly, giving you those dreamy shots. You can even frame all three peaks together from viewpoints around the Bow River or the Quarry Lake area.

    Cheers!
